What is the mine rehabilitation or closure process?
According to Mining Engineer, Mike Slight, mining companies need to plan for, prepare, and actually mine for closure right from the start of a project. This means closure planning and implementation of those plans needs to be conducted through each stage of the mine life cycle phases; exploration, during feasibility studies and mine construction, start up and operations, right through to the last day of production and beyond (which includes monitoring and demonstrating to regulators and the community that the site has reached a safe, stable and self sustaining condition).
