A geological or resource model requires subjective manual interpretation and estimation using whichever method generates delivers the greatest accuracy. The size and scale of the model determines the complexity of process and duration to produce this which can often take months. Technology brings about opportunities to streamline and automate processes which in turn reduces cost and can significantly increase accuracy.
In this video, K2fly’s Chief Geoscientist, Heath Arvidson, presents to the Sustainable Minerals Institute (University of Queensland) about The Self Learning Ore Body (SLOB) and how it enables safer, stable and more sustainable mining operations leading to increased value in both $ and ESG terms. Whilst the technology is available, a full SLOB has not yet been realised because making change happen is difficult, mostly for reasons related to influencing people.
