We are pleased to announce our Social Licence to Operate Workshop will feature guest speakers from the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG) and Business For Development (B4D).
We look forward to welcoming Bill Witham (CEO, AAMEG) and Meg Kauthen (Sustainability Manager, B4D) as part of our Social Licence to Operate Workshop at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in late October. The workshop, which will be led by K2fly’s Director of Operations Navin Nirmalrajan, will explore strategies for improving relations between miners and the communities in which they operate and the role the Infoscope Land Management System plays in this space.
The Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group is the peak body representing Australian companies engaged in the development of Africa’s resource industry. Bill Witham will be presenting a case study, outlining how quantitative data provides insight and meets key standards and how qualitative data and community behaviour is also important to developing successful SLO strategies.
B4D is an Australian organisation focused on building community development programs that increase livelihood opportunities for impoverished communities, in partnership with some of the world’s leading resource companies. Meg Kauthen will discuss the role of data analysis in building quality community development programs to ensure a mine’s Social License to Operate is established and maintained. The presentation will centre around the use of quantitative data to understand a community’s needs and refine program design, whilst also providing qualitative insights from local communities and their behavioural drivers and how these support program design.
Centred around hands-on case studies using practical experiences, this one-day Social License to Operate (SLO) Workshop will address the critical challenge of earning the right to have a presence of place within a community, faced by both the mining industry and other related industries.
